PAT. is an award winning architecture firm who endorses an integrated design approach to conceive sustainable buildings, based on the effective use of materials and energy resources. We aim at making inspiring buildings whose structure, envelope and systems work together, offering the user physical and psychic well-being, reducing energy consumption, maintenance and work on site.
For more than twenty years we have been promoting the application of life cycle thinking as the way toward decarbonization of the built environment.
WHAT WE BELIEVE At PAT. we strongly believe that our well-being is deeply affected by the space we inhabit. From this concept arises our mission: to improve the quality of life through architecture.
Whatever the scale of the project, our work starts from a deep understanding of our clients needs. To satisfy these needs while adding the extra bonuses of good design is our goal.
We aim at making inspiring buildings whose beauty is the result of a logical, scientific approach. Organisms where the structure, envelope and systems work together, offering the user physical and psychic well-being, reducing energy consumption, maintenance and work on site.
We strive to design an urban environment where old and new coexist, enriching our cities, improving them, leaving them more beautiful and liveable.
HOW WE WORK To live up to this expectations we build a dedicated integrated design team for every project, and we involve all of the different specialist engineers from the very first brainstorming meeting in order to incorporate as many inputs as possible in early design stage.
Over the years we developed tight bonds with selected engineers and consultants, cooperating on projects both in our country and abroad.
Fighting for sustainability in every project, we developed €CO, our own tool to run environmental life cycle costing analysis in order to find the right balance between construction cost and green building strategies.
Research in this field is run at University level and was presented in a number of international conferences over the last few years (Setac Goteborg 2010, Ecomondo Rimini 2011, Setac Berlin 2012 and Rome 2012, PLEA Los Angeles 2016 and Edinbourgh 2017).
WHERE WE WORk Deeply rooted in the Italian design culture, PAT. is a boutique firm with a global outreach.
We are based in Torino, the Italian capital of industry and high tech manufacturing, who reinvented itself as a culture powerhouse and tourist mecca. We have projects in four continents and we are currently building on site in Italy, Kenya and Qatar.
Jacopo Testa, Socio fondatore
Nato a Torino nel 1974, ha studiato architettura a Torino e alla AHO/Oslo School of Architecture. Si è laureato nel 1999 presso il Politecnico di Torino. Ha lavorato con Cliostraat e studio Buonomo Veglia, dove si è occupato di numerose commissioni di alto profilo, tra cui la Biblioteca di Fiorano Modenese, la riqualificazione ambientale dell’area Teksid di Avigliana e l’ampliamento dello stabilimento Sevel di Val di Sangro. Nel 2001 con Andrea Veglia ha fondato Testa&Veglia Architetti, con cui ha ricevuto il premio under 40 della Società ingegneri e architetti e la targa dell’Ordine degli Architetti di Torino per lo stabilimento Omes ed è stato responsabile della realizzazione del padiglione Coca Cola in occasione delle Olimpiadi Invernali Torino 2006.
ANDREA VEGLIA, Socio fondatore
Nato a Torino nel 1974, ha studiato architettura a Torino, Oslo e Los Angeles. In California ha svolto attività di ricerca sul tema dell’architettura residenziale a struttura in acciaio, lavorando in contatto con l’architetto Pierre Koenig, celebre per le sue Case Study Houses, e il fotografo Julius Shulman. Si è laureato nel 2001 presso il Politecnico di Torino. Ha lavorato per Studio Buonomo Veglia. Dal 2001 al 2006 ha guidato Testa e Veglia Architetti con Jacopo Testa, ricevendo il premio SIAT e la targa OAT. Dal 1997 al 2007 è stato architecture editor di Label Magazine, che ha co-fondato. Ha scritto per Label, Il Giornale dell’Architettura, deArchitect, Italic e altre pubblicazioni. E’ stato membro del consiglio direttivo della design community Turn. Ha tenuto lectures in varie università ed è stato relatore in convegni nazionali e internazionali.
NICOLÒ RADICIONI
Nato a Jesi (AN) nel 1984. Si è laureato in Architettura a Ferrara nel 2009, con un progetto sul Porto di Ancona che esplora la possibilità di un sistema ibrido commerciale-passeggeri-spazio pubblico nello specifico caso del porto dorico. Collabora con PAT. dal 2010.
FULYA TANYEL
Nata a Izmir (Turchia) nel 1996. Ha studiato architettura all’Università Hacettepe (Turchia) e all’Università Iuav di Venezia, si è laureata nel 2019 con progetti incentrati sulla percezione dello spazio con tutti e cinque i sensi e sulla progettazione con l’obiettivo di migliorare il benessere. Ha conseguito un Associate Degree in Media e Comunicazione nel 2019.
HONGYE WU
Nata a Zhejiang (Cina) nel 1996. Ha studiato architettura nel Fujian (Cina) ea Torino. Si è laureata nel 2021 presso la Laurea Magistrale in “Architecture Construction City” del Politecnico di Torino, con la tesi “Transitional Morphologies in the Italian Contemporary City. The Case of Mazzini, Rimini: In-line Urban Fabric Regeneration”, la cui idea principale è incentrata su codice urbano, transizioni urbane, morfologia di transizione e rigenerazione urbana nel contesto italiano.
ROMAIN CINTI
Nato a Parigi (Francia) nel 1991. Ha studiato architettura a Torino. Si è Laureato nel 2022 presso la Laurea Magistrale in Architettura per il progetto Sostenibile del Politecnico di Torino con la tesi “Riciclo di un sotto prodotto vegetale nelle costruzioni edili : produzione di un blocco di cemento naturale con aggregati vegetali di lolla di riso” la cui idea principale è incentrata sullo riuso di prodotti sostenibili. Ha lavorato in Francia e in Italia.
MARCO RUFFA
Nato a Torino nel 1966. Ha studiato architettura a Torino, si è laureato al Politecnico di Torino con una tesi in restauro architettonico. Ha più di 20 anni di esperienza in Europa, Medio Oriente, Estremo Oriente e Africa; con ruoli incentrati su progettazione architettonica e d’interni, direzione lavori, allestimento progetti e costruzione.
