LCA-LCC Integration. Development of an economic-environmental assessment model

The objective of this research is to develop a methodology allowing designers to compare the overall performance of various building envelope systems in order to make an informed choice based on scientifically measurable data.

The definition of an economic-environmental efficiency factor, to be applied to the preliminary design phase, represents a step towards the integration of two analysis tools, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Life Cycle Costing (LCC), in the evaluation of building projects. To date, these tools have been characterized by separate and parallel paths.
